Wife of retired brigadier general, Oluwole Rotimi, Titilayo, was yesterday kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The incident, according to eyewitness account, occurred at about 6.30pm on Monday in front of the gate to her company, AOB Logistics Limited.
It was gathered that Titilayo was kidnapped by about four armed hefty men while retiring from her office.
At the Ikolaba, Ibadan residence of the Rotimis, the place was deserted yesterday when the Nigerian Pilot correspondent visited the place around 5.30pm. About five people found in the compound look troubled.
One of the staff of the retired general told our correspondent that “Baba is not around, he has gone abroad, and he had instructed us no to talk about the incident to anybody, including you the media men. But you can go to the office of AOB Logistics Limited at Alakia area of Ibadan, the officer there may talk to you”.
The Oyo State Police spokesman, DSP Ayodele Lanade who confirmed the incident yesterday, said” it is true, the woman (Titilayo), was kidnapped on Monday at about 6.30pm and I can tell you that our men are currently on the trail of the criminals”.
The Oyo State police image maker declared that no arrest has been made since the incident occurred by the police, but sources revealed that the case was yesterday transferred from Egbeda Police Station where it was initially reported to state CID, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
It was further learnt that the abductors came in a green Nissan Primera car to abduct the woman.
The state police command said it however suspected a fowl-play in the matter concerning the manner by which the kidnappers successfully abducted the woman without any resistance coming from her driver who was present while the whole incident happened.
The acting state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Ayodele Lanade explained “the incident was different from other cases of kidnapping in some parts of the country, because in this case we learnt that the driver of the woman was looking at the abductors when they took her away.
Brig. General Oluwole Rotimi was also the former military administrator of the old Western Region before more states were created.
